The European Awards, the second held by The Lawyer, recognise the outstanding work performed by law firms across continental Europe and were judged by a panel comprised of managing partners at private practice firms and in-house counsel at multinational companies.

At last year’s inaugural event, Wolf Theiss won the category "Law Firm of the Year: Eastern Europe and the Balkans." This year, Wolf Theiss was nominated for "Law Firm of the Year" in three regional categories including Austria, Central Europe, and Eastern Europe and the Balkans. This year's award in the Central Europe category and the acknowledgement in the Eastern Europe & The Balkans category is further evidence of Wolf Theiss’ continuing success in achieving recognition by its peers and in-house counsel in the legal sector and underlines the firm's profile across Europe.

The criteria for winning the award included evidence of a strong local identity and market share, strategic vision, strong partnership ethos, financial performance and growth, consistent excellence in their chosen sectors and excellent talent management.

“Winning at The Lawyer's European Awards for a second year means a great deal to us. The economic climate has taken its toll across the region, however we are seeing signs of economic recovery, with many of our clients having become more active again," said Wolf Theiss Managing Partner, Horst Ebhardt. “This award not only recognises the very good work of our more than 600 people in 12 offices, but also our strong market position in Central and Eastern Europe, as well as in the Balkan region, of which we are very proud.”
