Main practical changes brought by the new Slovak act on protection of economic competition

Directive (EU) 2019/1 to empower the competition authorities of the Member States to be more effective enforcers (the “Directive“) is having a significant impact on the uniform application of EU antitrust rules. Slovak lawmakers viewed their obligation to implement the Directive as an opportunity to adopt the entirely new Act No. 187/2021 on the Protection of Economic Competition (the “new Act“), which replaces the previous 2001 competition act (the “old Act“).
