Romanian Parliament lends a helping hand to local authorities in the field of urbanism
The Romanian Parliament has passed Law 124/2024, allowing local authorities to extend the validity of General Urbanism Plans (PUGs) adopted before 2003 until 31 December 2026. This legislative change provides much-needed support to local authorities, helping to prevent delays in issuing building permits, which are crucial for ongoing investments. While this extension addresses immediate concerns, it highlights the ongoing challenges localities face in updating urbanism plans due to financial constraints. Our team of experts, including Roxana Roman (Partner), Dana Toma (Counsel), and Ana-Maria Mustatea (Associate), stands ready to assist with any legal questions regarding urbanism and construction regulations.
