Wolf Theiss welcomes Flavius Florea as Counsel and Head of the TMT, IP & Data Protection practice in Romania. He will lead and strengthen the practice, adding valuable expertise to the local team.
Flavius Florea has practiced law for more than 10 years, focusing on technology law, intellectual property and data privacy.His areas of work include: advising clients on the obligations of various Romanian and European privacy laws, data security, including in relation to the mandatory data breach notifications and handling difficult data breaches, as well as on a broad spectrum of internet-related issues, including e-commerce, copyrights and media and advertising laws.
Flavius has advised a broad range of clients from high-profile international companies to vibrant start-ups in several industries including telecommunications, IT, consumer products, automotive and online services. In the past years, Flavius has acted in complex projects for large corporate clients in connection to implementing their GDPR compliance programmes, as well as in projects related to freedom of information, document retention and confidentiality.
Prior to joining Wolf Theiss, Flavius was Senior Managing Associate at KPMG Legal (Toncescu și Asociații), where he focused on TMT (Telecoms, Media and Technology), data protection, commercial and IP (intellectual property) matters. Before that, Flavius was Managing Associate at DLA Piper. He also worked as an Associate and then Senior Associate at bpv Grigorescu Ștefănică.
Flavius holds a Master’s Degree in Private Law from the University of Bucharest, Faculty of Law and a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from the University of Bucharest, Faculty of Law. He is a Certified Information Privacy Professional – Europe (CIPP-E) with the International Association of Privacy Professionals since 2017 and he is a member of the Bucharest Bar.
