Wolf Theiss advises the EIC Fund on EUR 2 million investment in DotLumen

Bucharest, 19 February 2025 – Wolf Theiss acted as legal counsel to the EIC Fund, the venture investment arm of the European Innovation Council (EIC) that supports start-ups under the EIC Accelerator funding programme, as it sought to acquire equity in DotLumen S.R.L., a Romanian startup dedicated to enhancing the mobility of the blind and visually impaired through their flagship product, glasses for the blind.

The financing round was led by Catalyst Romania Fund II and totalled EUR 5 million. In addition to the EIC Fund and Catalyst Romania, the round also included SeedBlink and Tigrim Capital.

Wolf Theiss assisted the EIC Fund with the legal due diligence on Romanian IT company DotLumen and advised the client on the investment-related documentation, as well as on regulatory approvals. The Wolf Theiss team advising the EIC Fund was led by Partner Ileana Glodeanu and further included Counsel Cornelia Postelnicu and Senior Associate Iulia Curcă.

“The unique form of financing via the EIC – combining grants and equity – is proving itself highly attractive to Europe’s most promising start-ups. We are delighted with the EIC Fund’s investment in DotLumen, an innovative company pushing the boundaries of Pedestrian Autonomous Driving technology. We believe in the tremendous potential of their technology and are excited to support their growth and development”,

says Svetoslava Georgieva, Chair of the EIC Fund Board.

“This investment round brings so much competence onboard, from experienced investors that can help with the next growth phase of the company. Just a few years ago I started this company with the purpose of helping people. Now, Catalyst Romania and the EIC Fund, among other great investors, are joining our vision. We are also very proud to keep this company a product of Romanian and European Innovation, the selection of investors proves just that”,

stated Cornel Amariei, Founder & CEO of DotLlumen.
