Wolf Theiss employment spotlight – January 2020
It is our pleasure to share the newest edition of the Wolf Theiss Employment Spotlight, our relaunched monthly e-mail alert that uses real life cases scenarios to inform you about important employment law topics in our dynamic Central, Eastern and Southeastern region.
1. IF YOU ARE A PARENT IN HUNGARY, WE’VE GOT GOOD NEWS FOR YOU!
As of 1 January 2020, an employee with a child under 4 years of age has the right to request an amended employment agreement with 4 hours of part-time work. If you have more than 3 children, the above applies to you until your smallest child reaches the age of 6. The previous regulation granted the same rights for parents until the age of 3 and 5 respectively.
2. ADOPTIVE PARENTS
For the purpose of taking care of an adopted child, the parent is entitled to 3 years of unpaid leave from work from the date on which the child is placed in the parent’s care. If the child is older than 3 years, the parent can request 6 months of unpaid leave.
