RBI successfully closes sale of its Bulgarian business with legal advice from Wolf Theiss
Wolf Theiss advised Raiffeisen Bank International AG (RBI) on the sale of Raiffeisenbank (Bulgaria) EAD to KBC Bank NV for EUR 1,009 billion. The deal, initiated in November 2021, has now been formally closed following the completion of all regulatory and merger control requirements.
The sale agreement comprises RBI´s Bulgarian banking operations and also includes Raiffeisenbank Bulgaria’s wholly-owned subsidiaries Raiffeisen Leasing Bulgaria, Raiffeisen Asset Management (Bulgaria), Raiffeisen Insurance Broker (serving Raiffeisenbank Bulgaria’s leasing and corporate clients) and Raiffeisen Service.
The initial agreement between RBI and Belgium-based KBC on the disposal of 100 per cent of the shares in Raiffeisenbank Bulgaria was reached in November 2021.
