Wolf Theiss advises AGROFERT on the acquisition of Borealis’ nitrogen business
Czech-based group AGROFERT submitted a binding offer for the acquisition of Borealis’ nitrogen business, which includes plant nutrients, melamine and technical nitrogen, with the legal assistance of Wolf Theiss. The offer values the business on an enterprise value basis at EUR 810 million.
The AGROFERT group compromises more than 200 groups, with its activities spanning from chemicals and agriculture to food production. As a European leader in the production of nitrogen fertilizers, AGROFERT plans to enhance its capabilities in serving its customers across Europe by adding Borealis’ production assets in Austria, Germany and France, as well as Borealis’ comprehensive sales and distribution network utilising the Danube River.
The transaction, which is still subject to certain closing conditions and regulatory approvals, is expected to close in the second half of 2022.
