Wolf Theiss advises the IFC on EUR 75,000,000 anchor investment in green notes

Vienna, 3 October 2024 – Wolf Theiss has advised the International Finance Corporation (IFC) on its anchor investment in green notes issued by voestalpine AG.

voestalpine AG successfully closed the issuance of green notes, totaling an aggregate principal amount of EUR 500,000,000. The green notes, with a maturity of five years and a coupon rate of 3.75%, were placed with eligible counterparties, professional clients and retail clients; the notes are listed on the Official Market (Amtlicher Handel) of the Vienna Stock Exchange. The closing took place on 3 October 2024.

This milestone transaction marks the first issuance of green notes by the international steel and technology group voestalpine AG and involves the anchor participation of the IFC. The net proceeds from the green notes will finance or refinance sustainable projects undertaken by voestalpine AG, including its greentec steel initiatives. Specifically, the proceeds of IFC’s investment will support voestalpine AG’s investments aimed at enhancing energy efficiency in Brazil and contribute to the decarbonisation of the steel supply chain in Poland and Romania.

The Wolf Theiss team was led by Partner Claus Schneider, with support from Counsel Nikolaus Dinhof-Renezeder and Senior Associate Sebastian Prakljacic.

“We are very pleased to have been part of this significant transaction. We extend our gratitude to IFC for their trust in our expertise and congratulate voestalpine AG on this successful green note issuance.”

Claus Schneider, Partner
