Wolf Theiss advises REWE digital on IT centre transaction in Poland

Warsaw, 9 October 2024 – Wolf Theiss advised REWE digital on a joint venture transaction with Polish IT company – amb software – involving the establishment of an IT centre in Poland.

REWE digital, in cooperation with amb software, have established REWE digital Poland and will launch an IT service centre in Zielona Góra. The new entity will be responsible for providing technological expertise to German REWE group, the retail and tourism group that owns the REWE, Billa and Penny market chains, throughout European markets. amb software was founded by Juanita and Mariusz Goniewicz and operates as an IT services provider focused mainly on the German market.

The newly created IT services centre in Zielona Góra will focus on projects for the REWE group that are related to the digitisation of commercial and logistical processes, the automation of operations and the development of e-commerce platforms. Also in the works are plans to develop new cloud technologies. The IT centre is expected to begin operations late in the fourth quarter of 2024.

Thanks to this investment, Zielona Góra will become a new development hub for innovative technological solutions within the REWE Group, alongside IT centres in Germany, Austria, Spain, and Bulgaria. The decision to base the new IT service centre in Poland stems from REWE digital’s recognition of the high level of competency of Polish IT specialists and the rapid growth of the country’s IT sector.
