Wolf Theiss expands in Warsaw, launching energy practice and strengthening M&A team

The new positions are part of the firm’s dynamic expansion in central Europe’s largest legal-services market, and follow the launch of a Restructuring Practice in Warsaw in June. The Warsaw office of Wolf Theiss was among the most rapidly growing law firms in Poland in terms of revenue last year, according to a November ranking by leading Polish business daily newspaper Dziennik-Gazeta Prawna.

“We’re delighted to add these two talents to our outstanding team of legal experts,” said Tomasz Stasiak, Co-Managing Partner at the Wolf Theiss Warsaw office. “Responding to growing demand from our international and domestic clients, we are strengthening our expertise in the energy sector and boosting our position to provide comprehensive advice for M&A transactions and private equity investments.”

Konrad Kosicki, who will strengthen the Energy team in Warsaw, advises clients in matters related to the acquisition, development and financing of conventional and renewable energy projects, including waste-to-energy. He also advises on regulatory issues and trading in electricity, natural gas, green certificates and other commodities. His experience also includes work on infrastructure projects such as motorways and stadiums. Prior to Wolf Theiss, Kosicki worked for international law firms.

“This is an exciting time and place to be setting up an energy practice,” Kosicki said. “Poland’s energy transformation is just getting under way, and clients are looking for the kind of comprehensive advice that can be delivered by all of the firm’s practice areas working together.”

Maciej Olszewski has more than 12 years of experience working for international law firms in Warsaw and London, where he oversaw complex cross-border M&A transactions for corporates and financial institutions, as well as strategic projects for banks. He specializes in corporate transactions, including share and asset acquisitions, equity investments, disposals, corporate restructurings, joint ventures, as well as day-to day aspects of corporate governance and financial regulatory compliance. Olszewski also has significant hands-on experience advising on infrastructure and renewable energy investments.

“The market for corporate and mergers and acqusitions services in Poland is hot right now, thanks to the continued solid economic growth in CEE region, and Wolf Theiss is at the center of the action,” said Olszewski. “I’m honored to be a part of this team and look forward to contributing to our clients’ success.”
